Planting design for shade (Cambridgeshire)

Now into its first year after planting, the brief was to design a beautiful large planted bed adjacent to the newly constructed patio. The client wanted something with colour and movement, without it being something too difficult to look after. A mix of spring and summer flowering perennials and shrubs, along with ornamental grasses and ferns were chosen to suit the shady spot. Bulbs were added to add colour from autumn to spring. The garden is now developing nicely almost a year on from planting.
